About Me

My photo
I am a student just trying to graduate and living life. I have a wonderful family, great friends, and an awesome boyfriend. Oh and I have a precious pup that I love so much. I love reading a good book, playing board games/cards, and decorating for anything. Working out makes me feel so much better, but it's a battle everyday. I've been in school for what seems like forever and will finally graduate in May. I am also a firm believer in "Everything Happens for a Reason". All in all as its beens said plenty of times before- I'm not perfect BUT I'm me! :)

Wine-less Thursday

So someone failed to pick up the wine today.  I guess I could have but I guess I forgot too.  Sad Thursday. What is Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice going to be without the wine?!  Sigh...
Anyway, I pinterest"ed" another meal tonight...

Taco Pizza!!
Of course it was Mmmm good!  Since I got hounded for not posting a recipe last time, here it goes:

1 lb. ground beef
1 envelope taco seasoning mix
2 (8 oz.) cans Pillsbury crescent rolls
1 (16 oz.) can refried beans (I used the jalapeƱo kind
2-3 cups shredded cheddar cheese or Mexican blend
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup sliced black olives
4 green onions, chopped

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees
2.  Brown ground beef and drain. Add taco seasoning to the ground beef according to the package directions
3. Unroll crescent rolls into rectangles. Place in ungreased 11 1/2 inch x 16 1/2 inch jelly roll pan or cookie sheet. Press dough over the bottom and 1/2 inch up sides to form crust.  Bake at 375 oven for 11 to 13 minutes or just until golden brown
4. Microwave beans in a microwave safe bowl for 1 minute.  Carefully spread beans over warm crust creating a thin layer
5. Top with cooked beef mixture, sprinkle with cheese followed by tomatoes, black olives and green onion.  Return to oven for 3-6 more minutes until cheese is melted.  Serve immediately.  Makes 12 main dish servings or 48 appetizers.

I however, did not use black olives or green onions.  I just did half tomatoes since Trevor doesn't like tomatoes and lettuce.  :)

Remember how I mentioned a while back about a trip to South Dakota?  Ya, well it's getting closer!  I'm pretty excited.  I'm crossing my fingers for cooler weather!!!  What I'm not excited about is the closer it gets to leaving the more I have to do...

Hip-hip-hooray!  Not.

MNF

So you know how I told you all last night maybe the other day? Who knows.  Anyway the point is I said I wasn't putting all of my pinterest ideas to use. Well tonight, I finally did!

Knock it all you want.  Say it looks disgusting (as my rude inconsiderate, inappreciative, boyfriend did) But I had a sneak preview, and it tastes pretty yummy.  Also, no the beans are not burnt, they're called black beans. This comment also came from Trevor's mouth.  Due to his rudeness, he will go to bed starved tonight because he isn't getting any of this yumminess.  It's extremely easy to make!  You just add all the ingredients into the crockpot and let it cook all day! See? Simple.
If you would like you can eat it in a tortilla and add sour cream, cheese, and lettuce.  Or just eat it by itself.

AND....

NEED I SAY ANYMORE???
GO COWBOYS!!!

Pintervention

is definitely what I need.
I am on that dang website more than I am on Facebook these days.
Last night we had some friends come over to watch some football, the fight, and to hang out.  Karl came over too.  Long story short...Karl found out last night that "lol" means "laugh out loud" and not "lots of love".  He was relieved to find this out.  However, what makes this a little more funnier is that I was on Pinterest just a second ago and look what I saw...

So for those of you who don't know... "lol" means "laugh/laughing out loud" and not "lots of love".

Speaking of Pinterest, my mom sent me a picture of what she made me...

Isn't it cute?!  I thought so... she got the idea from Pinterest. ;)
I keep getting all these ideas but am not taking action....

Confessions & "Great Friends"

Yesterday, I had class.  I also had a complete and total blonde moment.  I am sitting at work (because I got there early) waiting to leave to go to class.  The whole day I was thinking, "I can eat lunch at 12 because I don't have to leave work until 12:30".  What in the crap was I was thinking?  Pff, I all the sudden had a light bulb come on at 12:20 and realized that I have class at 12:30 and don't leave work at 12:30.  Luckily I was only about 5 minutes late.  Whew!
Anyway when I got back to work, Anntonette told me, (as I was about to sit in a chair) "Mekayla, Alex won't be very happy with you if you sit in his chair".  I was thinking, "Since when would he care?"  So I sat in another chair.  As I was telling Anntonette what had just happened, she starts hysterically laughing.  Like to the point where she fell out of her chair.  Knowing what I was saying wasn't that funny I asked... "What in the heck is so dadgum funny that you fell out of your chair laughing?"  After this, Misty called back to where we were and said, "tell Anntonette Geico not geco".  Once again, Anntonette started laughing hysterically.  Me being confused asked once again, "What the heck is so funny? And what did I miss while I was at class?"  Since she wasn't giving me any answers I went and asked Misty.  She said to look around and that if I didn't see anything I was retarded.  So I went back to the room
AND
THERE
IT
WAS!
A FREAKING GECO IN THE CHAIR THAT I HAD BEEN SITTING IN.  Not only a geco, but a DEAD geco.  I don't know if you all know, but I hate any type of reptile.  Making that whole experience, very mortifying.  So thanks to all my "so-called friends".

Also yesterday, I saw this driving down the street.

Most of you have no idea what this is.  I tried to get a picture of the side of the car, but the car was going too fast.  This car is obviously attending the Taylor Swift concert IN SHREVEPORT that I am not going to. *sigh*  Talk all you want, but I love Taylor Swift.  She's not my #1 person that I love to listen to, but she's pretty up there on the list.  I would definitely pay to go see her.  I feel as if this confession  just lowered my maturity level, but hey I jam to her music in my car and I'm not ashamed!
I suppose I'll get over it cause I'm not going....

Anyway...
This is what I set out every night when supper is done, so that Trevor can fill his plate.

And every night I have to put the fork back up.  Why you ask? Because he says he doesn't see it.  This is not an every once in a while ordeal, every night.  You would think he now knows that there is a fork waiting for him, but he doesn't.  I suppose I'll just stop putting one out for him.  Are guys just that oblivious or what?

Happy Weekend!

Last weekend, not this past weekend, Trevor was on call. I believe I remember telling you all this in my last post. Buuuuttt it's kinda been a while. It was a pretty relaxed weekend for him being on call. He had one call, which just so happened to be when there was 2 mins left in the Husker game. So he got lucky.

Now I know I definitely not only informed y'all of my fall decorations, but also showed y'all. Apparently Saturday I was in the "fall" mood. I decided to make zucchini bread!!

For those of you who don't know what zuchinni bread is, you can't even taste the zucchini and wouldn't even believe that there were zucchinis in it. It tastes more like cinnamon bread. I might add that it was super delicious for my first time!

Now up to date... This weekend Trevor's parents came to town. Okay not to Shreveport, but the general area as in Tyler. So we headed to Tyler! Of course I had to fit in and wear my Nebraska shirt!

The weekend was full of food, games, football, and fun! It was a nice little weekend. (oh and a big shout out to my Cowboys on their victory yesterday!!

When we got back to Shreveport we had learned that it had been raining since Saturday night. And we could definitely tell. There was standing water everywhere!! Yay!!! I don't know exactly how much we got because Trevors rain gauge resets, but I want to say we got 3 inches!! Last night we got an inch and a quarter so yay for rain!!

Another thing that's been goin on in my life is my addiction to Pinterest! Oh-em-gee, someone should beat Mrs. Misty Garrison for introducing it to me. I'm always on it!! Recipes, decorative ideas, party ideas, EVERYTHING!! I can't stop! If you don't know what it is I suggest you go to www.pinterest.com! Beware! It might be too much to handle for you!!

Remember When...

9.11.01
September 11, 2001, I was in the 7th grade.  I remember we had just walked into our English class with Mrs. Pipkin.  She was sitting at her desk, hands together, elbows on knees, slouched over, look of distress on her face.  My first thought? "Oh man, what did we do? Whatever it was, we're in trouble now!"  We all sat down and awaited our lecture that obviously wasn't going to be a good one.  Had I only known, we only had wished it was going to be a bad lecture.  She informed us about what was going on and even rolled a T.V. into the room.  I remember thinking that this was a bad thing, but had no idea how bad.  What did I know...I was only 12.  I remember getting home and my mom being in a panic.  For some reason I have the image of her sitting on the couch pushing her sleeves up, freaking out, telling me I wasn't going anywhere for the rest of the evening stuck in my head.  I remember my mom telling me, "Mekayla, do you know how terrible this is?"  I remember many things from that day, but there are many things I will never forget.  I will never forget how many people suffered that day, how many people lost a family member or even members, friends, husbands, wives, kids the list goes on and on.  I will never forget what our world went through and how it has changed us today.  That being said, all of you are in my prayers today, for today is the 10th Anniversary of 9.11.01.  One thing you can all remember is, we will never FORGET!

Cuppa Joe & Breezy Mornings!

This morning was this kind of morning...

And you better believe I soaked in and loved every minute of it!  I love my breezy mornings on the back porch!  The dogs loved it as well...

I also added another FALL decoration!!

Once again, I am absolutely lovin' the weather (in the mornings & evenings), fall, football, everything!  I even changed out the Scentsy to a more appropriate scent. ;)  Most of you would find it hard to believe, but I could seriously sit on the couch all day and watch football.  It may not look that I'm that interested, but I guess I'm not that type of person that is expressive and yells at the T.V.  But really and truly there's nothing better!
Speaking of cooler weather...

Yup, if you can't figure it out this girl is going to South Dakota...
Luck will be needed.  Please and thanks!  More info about this trip will be provided the closer the time comes!! ;)

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOOOTBAAALLL???

Let's take a moment to respect the star...

Now, we can get started. :)
NFL football kicks off tonight! Can I get a what-what?!?!  Although the NFL kickoff of the season doesn't kickoff with my boys, I'm still excited!!  They're only saving The Boys for Sunday night football.  Sunday night football is way better than Thursday night football! So 3 more days till NFL really gets started!  Can I get a what-what-WHAT?!  Not only is football getting kicked off, but we also have this nice cool weather to get us in the mood..

This was Monday morning!  Oh em gee, I absolutely loved it!!  I think the dogs loved it as well.  They did not want to come back in!

The other morning however, it was a little bit earlier but still a breezy 58 degrees!!  It's sad when the high is 87 and I think its cool.  :|  Oh well, no complaints here!  Although we're experiencing this cooler weather....

We still have fires! :(  We could see them across the lake driving home Monday afternoon.  Pray they go away and never come back and for the people who are being affected by them!  Trevor said he could smell them this morning which in result only freaked me out!

Here's my one and only fall decoration!  Trust me, it looks a lot better in person than in a picture!
All I need now is a door decoration and some pumpkins!  YAY for FALL!!!
I LOVE FALL!

Road Trippin On A Long Weekend

Well it’s Friday night and we’re getting out of town.
We don’t care when the sun goes down.
Making memories with my friends…
Just road trippin on a long weekend.

Just a little Josh Abbott to get us started...

Today is Tuesday, which means my looong 4 day weekend is over! Sad, but true.  We almost had a damper in our going out of town adventure at the last minute.  We could not find anyone to keep the dogs!  Darn dogs are like children!!!  We would have opted to boarding, but A) Lailee does not have her bordetella shot (or whatever it is) since I have never boarded her before and B) when Trevor called they were not going to let us pick them up until Tuesday.  Two days after we would be home, which = pointless.
We had a good weekend though! We attended another Astro game Friday night to pass some time while everyone was at the rehearsal dinner.  We attempted to go out to a couple of places afterwards, but Houston apparently hates us!
Saturday was of course the beginning of a new season of some college football!  So of course we had to hit up Buffalo Wild Wings for some Big Red football until we absolutely had to go back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding! Which ended up only being about the 1st quarter.
The wedding was absolutely beautiful, the food was amazing, good music, and good times!

I hope everyone who had a day off, enjoyed their day off.  And if you didn't, I'm sorry and hope you enjoyed your day anyway!!
