About Me

My photo
I am a student just trying to graduate and living life. I have a wonderful family, great friends, and an awesome boyfriend. Oh and I have a precious pup that I love so much. I love reading a good book, playing board games/cards, and decorating for anything. Working out makes me feel so much better, but it's a battle everyday. I've been in school for what seems like forever and will finally graduate in May. I am also a firm believer in "Everything Happens for a Reason". All in all as its beens said plenty of times before- I'm not perfect BUT I'm me! :)

This Week....

is going to be mega rough.
Today I have a test.
Tomorrow I have a test.
Thursday I have two tests.
Friday I have a test.
Saturday I have a CPR class from 12:30-4:30.
Today is only Tuesday and I'm already tired.  I have already had a cup of coffee and feel as if I could drink a whole pot. Or better yet need a whole pot.
Like I said, "Welcome to big girl college".

I saw this on Pinterest.  My mom has been saying this to me every time she texts me. :)

What's Been Going Down...

Here lately we have been eating a lot of fish.  And I fortunately have had the week off from cooking supper! :)  I thought that it was just because Trevor was on a health kick and I normally don't cook EXtremely healthy, but it was confirmed that Trevor was just getting home earlier than me and was tired of eating so late in the evening.  Since I don't get home until 6:30 and all.  Tonight we had fish.  Red fish.  It was extremely yummy!

I also made some potatoes from a recipe I got on Pinterest.  However, they were nothing special.  Just a new way of making potatoes.

Not only has Trevor been cooking all week, but he also UNLOADED THE DISHWASHER!!  How impressive.  He must have done something bad that I have yet to find out about.

HOWEVER....

Not everything got put in its place, but I'll take it.  I'm sure not going to complain.

Also this week, Lailee finally got a haircut.

I think when she gets a haircut she feels so much better.  She goes back to being her normal bratty self instead of her incredibly bad self.
Yes, those are pretty pink bows in her hair.
The lady at the grooming place called and asked if I wanted bows in her hair because she had forgotten to ask when I dropped her off.  I said, "uh ya I guess, it doesn't matter because she'll take them out anyway" (She pulls them out the day after she gets a haircut so I never know why I always have them put them in her hair) This go around....a week later....she still has them in her hair!  I'm impressed.  She probably completely forgot about them.  :)
Since Lailee got pretty this week, Jersey's daddy figured Jersey needed to keep up.  So Jersey got a haircut as well.  BUT, Jersey gets a haircut at home.  When Trevor went outside to get ready to give Jersey a haircut I said, "Who wants a haircut?!" They both went to the door and stared as if they were waiting to see who was going to get picked to go outside to get a haircut.

Jersey was of course the winner and suffered a bad cut on her ear from this haircut.  Poor Jersey.
Speaking of poor Jersey...poor Mekayla has 5 tests this week!  Prayers please and thanks!!!

Ten on Thursday

1.  I am currently hating Thursdays.  They are my long days.  I go to class from 9-12, have an hour lunch break, then go back again at 1 until 4.  Bleh.  I haven't been in school that long in a 24 hour period since like high school.  But as my teacher said today, "It will all be worth it in the end".

2.  Speaking of Thursdays, I am currently hating my brain.  Why can it not obtain and learn everything I need to know in like an hour?!  That would help out a lot!

3.  I am also currently hating my bottom lip.  Yes, my bottom lip.  I bit my lip the other day and it developed into a canker sore.  An even bigger bleh! It was almost gone today, but then I bit it again...in the same exact spot. :|

4.  I am hating the fact that I have a test every single day...wait no every single class that I have next week, I have a test in.

5.  I am hating the new blog layout.  Not mine personally, but the homepage.  The homepage that none of ya'll can see unless ya'll have a blog.  I changed it to the new layout and could not figure out how to change my personal layout.  But I finally figured out how to change it back to the old blog layout, so now ya'll don't have to stare at a snowman anymore.  :)

6.  I am hating the weather right now.  Make up your mind.  You can't tease me with 77 degree weather on Sunday and even make me paint my toes so that I can wear flip flops and then turn around and be cold and rainy all week.  What was the point of me painting my toes?!

7.  I am, however, loving that Kidd Kraddick comes on when it does.  There's a plus for having to wake up early 4 days out of 5. They always seem to bring a smile to this face!

8.  I am also loving Jason Aldean's latest CD.  Can't stop listening to it!  I specifically like "Fly Over States".  Siiimmmpppllllyy because at the end he says, "I need a girl from Amarillo". Um hello!  I'll be your girl from Amarillo!!!!  Even though I'm not technically from there, ya'll get the point.

9.  I am also loving Brantley Gilbert and The Band Perry's latest, "All Your Life".

10.  I am hating the geniuses that made up all these TV shows.  Or are they really geniuses?  I've come to the realization that we have 2 shows that come on Monday, 2 on Tuesdays, 3 (probably more, it's gotten to the point where I don't even know what Trevor watches anymore there's so many I'm just counting the ones we watch together) on Thursdays, and 0 on Wednesdays and Fridays.  TV geniuses could you please like put one on Monday and one on Wednesday???  I don't like having to watch like 3 shows on day!  Goodness.

I realize that I have more hate in this specific post than love, but this is just.....

Mystery Jello

Another weekend has passed, but it was quite the successful one because Trevor and I got a free meal!  Thanks to Ms. Amy O'Quinn! I used to work with Amy, but she had to find another job due to her hectic school schedule.  She got herself a job at Logan's Roadhouse!  It's a brand new Logan's, (just opened yesterday) so their managers decided to have a pre-opening party type thing.  Amy got to invite 3 guests to attend this pre-opening and we got a free meal! Thanks for the invite Amy, Trevor and I always appreciate free stuff! :)  Afterwards we took it upon ourselves to go out on the town!  We had a fun time and definitely need to do it again!

So Sunday afternoon, Trevor decided he wanted some jello.  He started boiling the water and then decided that he was going to start cooking fajitas for supper and left me in charge to finish the jello. (Which the fajitas were yummy-licious, but that's beside the point)
Jello.
Easy enough.  For some reason when Trevor puts me in charge of something, I second guess myself on everything.  It's not that I'm scared of him, it's more of a "I-don't-want-to-hear-about-it-for-2-hours-if-I-do-something-wrong-kinda-thing." If I mess something up its not like I get a, "Oh, it's okay.  Not a big deal", like I would like to get.  It's this on-going process for a good hour or so.  Anyway, it was jello how hard could it be?  I made sure I even stirred it for the exact 2 minutes.  Not to mention I was also supposed to add strawberries and kiwi.  A couple hours later, Trevor was ready to eat his jello.  Wasn't ready.  I informed him the box said 4 hours and he said that the batch he made the other day set up in 2 hours.  We left it alone until the next day.  He called me and asked if I checked out my jello.  (Of course it's "my" jello when it messes up and "his" when it's perfect)  I unfortunately had and still just some liquid jello.  So this is where it began: "How in the world do you mess up jello?? It's the easiest thing ever".  I started to think the same thing: "HOW DO YOU mess up jello?!"  I took it upon myself to rely the answer to my question to good ol' Google.  I learned that KIWI, among a bunch of other fruits, CAN CAUSE YOUR JELLO NOT TO SET! BOO-YA!
I knew I couldn't just screw jello up.
Google, thank you for making me feel better about myself and for providing proof to boo-ya in my boyfriend's face.  I knew I loved you when I first met you.  :)

Welcome To College

So this week was our first week of actual lectures.  MAN OH MAN!  My brain was going 110 mph.  I swear to you there was smoke coming out the top of my head.  This is nothing like I've ever had before...which I expected, but now that I know it for real....I'm scared for my life!  Pray for me.

On a side note, the other day when Trevor and I went to the driving range, we noticed that the Country Club was having BINGO on Tuesday and Texas Hold 'Em on Thursday.  We went and played BINGO Tuesday, even though there were smirky comments coming from everyone about how old we were for going to play.  There were of course quite a few old people but not as bad as expected.  There were games for $40, $50, and then blackout for $95.  I almost won a $40 game.  I only needed one more for the longest time.  After I lost that time, I knew there was going to be no more hope for me.  WRONG!  Ah, still can't believe I won.  By now you should all be realizing that my luck has been extremely good here lately!!  I never have good luck! Needless to say, I'm lovin' it.

The one on the right was my lucky card.  I would've taken a picture of my blackout, but I was just so excited and had to take it up to the guy to make sure I actually BINGO'd immediately and that was where he uncovered all the spaces.
Trevor went tonight to play Texas Hold 'Em with the guys.  He better have had as much good luck as I did.  He is a lucky guy anyway, mainly because he has me, but that's besides the point.  He really does have lots of luck...maybe that's where I'm getting mine??

On another side note, Trevor brought home King Cake the other night!  Oh King Cake, how I've missed you.  It only comes around once a year, which in return makes me excited for Mardi Gras!

It was a nice piece of heaven in my mouth after watching what I eat for the past week or so and getting back into working out all the time.  Mmmmm!!!!!

No More Peepers!

If you all remembered correctly, Trevor was on call this weekend.  HOWEVER, we still had fun!  He only had one run and it was on Friday.  He was home by 8.  Let's just say it was one of the better on call weekends.  :)
Friday I ordered a pizza and bummed around for the rest of the night.  When Trevor got back, Eric came over to see him.  He was in town this weekend.  Along with Melissa and their precious twins.  We also watched the Change-Up.  Not that great...at all.  What's up with movies these days?!
Saturday, we watched football and once again bummed around.  We really don't do much when Trevor's on call.  During the Saints and 49ers game, Trevor decided we would go and try out a new restaurant called Hana Steak Seafood and Sushi.  It was a hibachi grill and it was amazing!  Afterwards we went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to mess around.  Yes, we went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond on a Saturday night.  But, we found lots of stuff! Ha.  Including a curtain for the door!!!  Now, no one can no longer look straight through the house!!

YAY!  I hated that anyone coming up to the door could see everything!  Problem solved!

I also found these "pugz" for dogs!!! I am convinced that Lailee and Jersey need them!  Maybe not Jersey, she'd probably hate them, but most definitely Lailee! Ha.

Sunday has been our lazy day for quite some time now, but yesterday that changed.  We went to church, ate "lunch" (really breakfast) at Waffle House, ran a few errands, came home and went to the driving range up the road.

No, I have never hit an actual golf ball with an actual club ever.  In my life.  I have played putt putt, but that is it.  I'm sure Trevor was getting annoyed.  I "whiffed" the ball numerous times.  I blamed the "whiffed" balls on him because I swear every time he watched me I missed it.

When we got home, we had supper and Trevor up and decided that he wanted to switch the Husker room to another room because he had so much Husker stuff.  It looks good, but now the "used-to-be-husker-room" IS BARE!

If you can tell there's kind of a bare spot to the right of this picture.  That will be the wall where Trevor has committed to framing his Nebraska magazines and hanging them on the wall.

This would be Trevor's favorite part of the whole room.  It's an actual flag hanging behind the door but when the door is completely open, all you can see is Cornhuskers.  I thought that it was just a coincidence, but Trevor assures me that he put every thought into making it do that.

And that my friends, is the new Husker room.  I told Trevor that he should send in a picture to the Fan Club, maybe he could get some free stuff!

Besides redecorating the Husker room, I added more beads to my Mardi Gras centerpiece!  I don't know if I have showed ya'll this, but here it is.  I realize there's nothing much to it, but I still love it! Ha.

I also got around to hanging these two adorable things!  The cross, if you remember is the one I got for Christmas that I just love and the picture is what my mom made.  It's been on the "entertainment center" (as in the table below the hanging TV) because I hadn't figured out where to put it just then.  But now it's up and hanging!!

Today, I luckily have the day off.  And as far as now, I've been absolutely LUH-LUH-LUH LAAAZZY!  I am glad that I have the day off.  I also need to recoop from my practice swing yesterday.  This girl is sore!  I don't know if that makes me old or out of shape, but I am most definitely sore from going to that little ol' driving range!

Back to School!

I started back at school Tuesday.  I have Mondays off, (from school, not work) so that's nice.  My schedule isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.  I will have to get used to going back to school full time because for the past 2 semesters, I've been taking online classes and only one on campus.  Now I'm on campus everyday.  Except for Mondays that is. ;)  I think I will get used to my schedule preeeettttyyy  quickly.  I am LOVING my Tuesdays and Thursdays so far because on Tuesdays I work in the mornings and then go to class and get done at 3:30, so then I have the rest of the day instead of getting home at 6:30.  Same as Thursday, except I don't work at all because I go to class from 9-4.
However, before I got to start class, I had to of course pick up my books....

No, your eyes are not deceiving you.  That is indeed a box of books.  I think it's the most books that I've ever gotten in my whole entire college career.  And for those of you who know me, you know that's been a while.
So that's that.

Meanwhile.... I've been dealing with a minor injury.  You'll make fun of me, but I don't care.

Yes, a bruised thumb.  Underneath my fingernail.  Talk about painful.  I think I take advantage of my thumb, because I didn't realize that there's so much that I do that causes pressure on my thumb to make it hurt. :(  So call me a drama queen and other such names, but when there's pressure on it and when it happened, I want/wanted to cry like a baby.  In fact at 5 o'clock this morning, I basically did.  I woke up thinking it was time for me to wake up, so I leaned over to see what time it was.  And when I did I some how put all my weight on my elbow to smash my thumb some more.  The only good outcome of this morning was that I had 2 more hours to sleep.  Love it when I do that!

Now, I have to go prepare myself for Grey's and Private Practice coming on!  They made their RE-appearance last Thursday.  (They took a Christmas break too) So YAY for them being back on!!
Tomorrow's Friday and I'm semi-excited.  Excited for the relaxation, not excited for Trevor being on call.

Goodbye 2011, Hello 2012!!!

There's a lot to talk about that happened in 2011, so I figured I'd get it out there one last time, so that I can put the past in the past and focus on the new!
In...
January...

Trevor's two sweet precious cousins were born!!  They are adorable! And I'm sad that they moved away. :'(

February...
we had our first big snow!!!

I love the snow!!!  Trevor and I had the day off because of the snow and we spent the day goofing off. Staying warm, well except for when we were out playing in it!  I remember we were goofing off on the 4 wheeler and it tipped over!!  I hit my face! But I still love that snow!!

March...
was apparently the month of concerts.
My cousins and sister attended the Lady GaGa concert in Dallas and it was an awesome concert!!  Love me some GaGa.

Here is where you probably realize what the heck?!  One week after GaGa, Trevor and I attended a Gary Alan concert! Ha, GaGa to Gary Alan!  Major change!  But I still love me some Gary!!

April...
didn't bring much rain but it brought flowers before May did!
Not much happened in April...that I can think of or have any pictures to prove of anything happening.
However, we did get a gorgeous flower bed! :)
Oh and of course Easter, which I went home for.

May...
we took one of our many mini vacations to Houston.  We stayed with some friends, attended an Astros game, went to Kemah's boardwalk and had dinner by the water!

June...
well, do I need to even tell you?  Duh! My ((and my sister's)) birthday!!! The big 22!  Man, am I getting old.  Now I'm 22 AND A HALF! *sigh*
We also spent the entire day on the lake for Floatilla!  It's always a fun time!  Nick and Joni even joined us this year too!!

July...
was of course 4th of July!!  We spent the whole day shopping and cooking out!  Our night time events of watching fireworks and popping fireworks didn't work out too well because of the rain!  We eventually got to pop a few, but that was it.

August...
is when everything began to pick up.
It was Trevor's 28th birthday, Mekenna came to stay with us for a week, and then Mekenna and I met up with my family in Dallas for a little getaway.  We shopped, went to Six Flags, and stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge!  It was a great getaway! Remember just a few seconds ago when I said that I loved me some Gary Alan?? Well, I wasn't lying...because we went to see him again in August!! :)

September...
we headed back to Houston.  We had to go witness our friends getting married!
It was a beautiful and fun wedding!!  Can't wait to have my own!! *this is where my big wink comes in  ;)*

October...
picked up majorly!  It was an extremely busy month! And the month of trips!
Trevor and I headed to South Dakota!  My first trip to South Dakota, although that is where Trevor is from.  We went there for Pheasant season.  Trevor hunted while I bummed around.  His family did throw a big Barn Dance party!  It was a great time!
I also went back home to Sunray to celebrate with my family, my grandparent's big 50th Anniversary!!
While I was there, they had their first snow. ;)

November...
I headed back home again for some turkey!! And my family says I never come home..Ha! Anyway, Trevor had to stay in Shreveport and work on Thanksgiving Day so he had Thanksgiving with a friend.   He joined me in the town of Sunray the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  There, we had Thanksgiving again, but with him and his family.  He was also so kind to entertain my little sister and help put up Christmas decorations at my mom's house!

December...
is my favorite month of all!!  I'm sure you all haven't forgotten how much I love Christmas time!! This was also my favorite month because my luck seemed to turn over a new leaf!  I got accepted into the Rad Tech program at Northwestern in Shreveport, which brought tears to my eyes for many reasons!! ((Which by the way, I start Tuesday!))  Abby came to visit us to celebrate her 21st birthday!  She wanted to do nothing but go to the boats....so that's where we went!  The next night was Trevor's Company Christmas party!  Always a good time!  And then there was Christmas, which I went home for.  Christmas came too quick this year.  I never really felt like it was Christmas!  Christmas day, Mekenna turned sweet 16 and we had a white Christmas!! Even better!  Maryn's birthday was on the 16th and she turned 7!  Next was of course New Year's, which I have already told ya'll about!  But, I failed to mention that I found $100 on Friday-the 30th!  I see it as good luck for 2012! ((For those of you who saw my Facebook post today, I am sure that you are confused.  I found the money Friday, but chose to turn it in.  No one ever claimed it, so I got to keep it and got it back today!!)) YAY!! A free $100. :) I never have that much luck!

Great things happened in 2011!  And I am ready to take on 2012!  I hope it's a fabulous year!!!  I've had many blessings, too many to count!  I have the greatest family, the bestest friends, the sweetest boyfriend, and the most precious little Lailee! I am greatly thankful for everything that happened in 2011!  I ask for all of you to continue to keep my stepdad in your prayers!  I can't wait to see what 2012 has in store for me!

& this is life as I know it...
