Two Cents Tuesday (on Wednesday)

Nothing urks me more than using the words "this" and "next" incorrectly. 

For instance:

I only work Monday and Fridays.  I know I know hate on me all you want, but I am in clinic 3 days a week and we are closed on the weekends. ANYWAY... Every Monday evening somebody tells me, "See ya next Friday".  Of course I am always confused and respond like 

Why next Friday? Are you off this Friday?

or I get excited and think

Omg are we off this Friday?! 

No. They are clearly talking about the the day after tomorrow and not next week.

This is obviously an unsettled dispute, but somewhere down the line I was taught these beliefs and I stand by them today.

So if you're asking for my two cents THIS Friday is the 31st and NEXT Friday is the 8th.
